Traveling with a baby is drastically different than traveling solo or as a couple. There’s a lot to consider and it can get daunting.
Over the years, we’ve learned that you don’t need a lot of stuff. But, we do have our favourite items to travel with and we always bring with us when we travel with our baby.

1. Onya Baby Carrier
We love traveling with our Onya Baby Cruiser Baby Carrier. It’s is ergonomic and well made. The most unique feature of the Onya Baby is the infant travel chair which fits perfectly in the front koala pouch. It’s a useful feature when traveling or bouncing around the city. The carrier fits easily around almost any chair and is quite useful when high chair is available. And because it’s a part of the actual carrier, there’s no extra packing or things to remember.
2. Baby Jogger City Select
Now that Baby C has arrived and Baby B is still a toddler, we knew a single stroller would not be enough. Therefore after careful consideration, we decided on the Baby Jogger City Select Stroller with 2nd Seat. It has 16 unique combinations with two seats and while Baby C is young, it has an adapter which works with our Peg Perego car seat. It’s easy to maneuver and we love that it folds with one simple step. The only downside is it’s heavy for traveling.
3. Phil & Teds Highchair
This travel high chair is lightweight and portable (plus, it’s built by Phil & Teds so you know it’s good quality). The Lobster Highchair only weighs a couple pounds and is a must for anyone traveling with an baby who needs a high chair. Note: you can also convert the Onya Baby Carrier into baby chair strap if you’re in a jam.
4. Summer Infant portable placemat
Another favorite travel item is a rubber placemat because it’s lightweight, easy to clean and conveniently rolls into a small tube. Once baby is finished eating, roll up the placement and you’re ready to go.
5. Baby/Toddler Sleep Sacks
The best invention EVER! Whoever invented these fantastic sleep sacks – I love you.
Both boys have slept in sleep sacks since birth and they love them. They are a safer option then traditional blankets and they provide a clean, familiar sleeping experience when traveling. And, most importantly, they make it difficult for little climbers to climb out of the crib or bassinet.
6. Traveller Crib
A great travel bed is the phil&teds Traveller Crib. It weighs less than 7 pounds and although doesn’t fit in a suitcase, it can fit in the overhead compartment of an airplane.
7. Summer Travel Bed
The Summer Infant By Your Side Sleeper is perfect for infants about 6 months and under. It provides a safe sleeping environment, has a clear view of baby for parents piece of mind, mesh sides help air circulate better, includes mattress pad and fitted sheet and folds up small which easily fits in a suitcase.
8. Columbia Gear
A couple years ago if you were to have told me that I would have a favourite travel gear (both for kids and adults) I wouldn’t have believed you. This is because I don’t tend to be loyal to any one brand.
But, over the past couple of years I’ve learned that we do have a favourite travel brand for clothes and gear, and it’s Columbia. I wouldn’t look anywhere else for winter snow gear for us and the boys, for rain jackets, or sports clothing. We are huge fans because of the quality, price, and functionality.

9. Clek Weelee
Traveling with any carseat can be a burden, so purchasing a Clek Weelee Travel Bag is a great option to make traveling easier. We love the Weelee since it folds flat when not in use, fits a number of types of car seats like the Foonf, and it also has extra room to spare for additional items that don’t fit in your suitcase. Trust us, you will not be disappointed in this purchase.
10. Plenty of Tylenol and/or Advil
Baby Tylenol and/or Advil to the rescue! Even if your baby is not teething, bring two bottles of baby Tylenol and put one in your day bag. You may not need it, but if you do, you’ll be thankful you have it. We typically bring two bottles of Tylenol (it lasts up to 4 hours) for the daytime and one bottle of Advil for the evenings (it lasts up to 8 hours).
While staying at an all inclusive resort in Mexico, the floor in our hotel room was slippery tile. Our first born is prone to accidents on a good day, so it was no surprise that he slipped and bonked his head on the floor multiple times. Tylenol came in very handy. Keep in mind, your destination or resort may not have children’s Tylenol or Advil available, so come prepared.
11. Baby/Toddler headphones
While you may be able to tune out the sounds and songs coming from your child’s tablet, it’s likely going to annoy other passengers on the airplane or train. One solution is to turn the volume down very low – but this rarely works for long periods of time. Another option is to bring toddler friendly headphones.
