Depending on which area of the world you are visiting, you may tend to feel welcome or unwelcome as a tourist. Some cultures simply exude welcome to guests. The World Economic Forum has compiled a list of the friendliest countries in the world as part of their Travel and Tourism Competitive Report 2024. The criteria that was considered included transportation, attractions, safety, the appeal of business travel and the preservation and development of natural resources. Here are the top 10 friendliest countries in the world:

1. Iceland

Although it’s cold and dark for half of the year, Iceland was considered to be the friendliest country overall according to the report. Prices are fairly low if you want to travel to Iceland, and the tourism industry is working hard to bring in business.

2. New Zealand

New Zealand has been known as one of the most beautiful vacation destinations in the world, and the overall consensus seems to be that Kiwis tend to be friendly to visitors from other lands. The country is also clean, generally safe and interested in preserving the breathtaking natural surroundings.

This country in northwest Africa has a decidedly exotic feel to it, and the people tend to be quite friendly.
